SCI 415 - Science Partners: Theory, Practice, Learning

Students are paired with an elementary school teacher and their class for three hours per week to teach hands-on, inquiry based science. Repeatable up to a maximum of 6 credits.

Prerequisite(s): BIOL 190; BIOL 191; CHEM 121A; CHEM 121L; CHEM 122A; CHEM 122L; Junior standing.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will develop hands-on inquiry based science experiments, utilizing school district science standards to communicate science, mathematics and other subjects.
2. Students will successfully serve as science para-professionals and role models for both their students and their partner teacher.
3. Students will reflect on their experiences and use their reflections to improve their own science knowledge and their classroom teaching.
