JOUR 434 - Visual Persuasion for Advertising and Imc

(3 units)
Examines formal elements of visual communication and the persuasive power of imagery. Contemporary advertising campaigns and other campaigns illustrate visual persuasion theory.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to discover and use effective secondary data sources.
2. Students will be able to conduct appropriate qualitative and quantitative primary research for the situation analysis and to test marketing communication effectiveness.
3. Students will be able to organize and communicate ideas in an IMC plan.
4. Students will be able to write a situation analysis.
5. Students will be able to formulate an effective advertising strategy.
6. Students will be able to devise an effective creative strategy.
7. Students will be able to develop an effective public relations and promotion strategy.
8. Students will be able to develop an effective social media marketing strategy.
9. Students will be able to write, design, and produce marketing communications materials to achieve marketing objectives.
10. Students will be able to devise an advertising media strategy and write an advertising media plan.
11. Students will be able to demonstrate teamwork, written and oral communication skills.
12. Students will be able to demonstrate proficiency at self-evaluation so as to increase personal knowledge and skill levels.
