CHS 718 - Advanced Qualitative Research Methods in Public Health (3 units) This course is designed to advance students’ skill and knowledge of qualitative methodologies for addressing public health problems.
Prerequisite(s): MPH degree or CHS 700; CHS 780.
Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Spring Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to compare and contrast different research perspectives and qualitative approaches to public health research. 2. Students will be able to select and justify the appropriate approach to answer a research question. 3. Students will be able to evaluate the methodological strength and weaknesses of public health studies employing qualitative methods. 4. Students will be able to analyze and interpret qualitative data. 5. Students will be able to produce qualitative reports for various audiences (e.g., lay, scientific).
