ART 748 - Art Education: Mentor Teaching and Supervision (1 to 3 units) Theory, philosophy, professional practices and practical experience in mentor teaching and supervision in contemporary art education programs.
Offered: Every Fall and Spring Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Student will be able to demonstrate an ability to produce an appropriately challenging art lesson and class plan. 2. Students will be able to demonstrate ability to manage a classroom, its students and the diverse situations which may occur at any given time throughout the school day. 3. Students will be able to actively take part in and occasionally lead student activities resulting in the production of works of art from each student illustrating that student’s understanding of and capability solving a particular problem. 4. Students will be able to lead and support critique discussion[s] on class work in such a manner that a climate of learning is established, promoted and expanded upon. 5. Students will be able to demonstrate ability to use contemporary and traditional instructional technology to support the instructional process. 6. Students will be able to demonstrate ability to maintain and manage accurate student records via computerand the ability to generate “useful” student records which lead to improved 1 on 1 instruction for all students.
