BASQ 101 - Elementary Basque I

(4 units)
Introduction to the language through the development of written and conversational language skills and through structural analysis. Emphasis on Unified Basque but includes an introduction to the dialects. NOTE: Course also offered online through Independent Learning (call 775-784-4652).

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to demonstrate simple conversation skills by talking about daily events.
2. Students will be able to ask and respond to questions focused on who, who with, what, where, when, which, and how.
3. Students will be able to use some verbs in the present tense, all in the recent past, and most in the future tense.
4. Students will be able to identify a transitive and intransitive verb.
5. Students will be able to conjugate transitive and intransitive verbs in the recent past using the proper helping verb.
6. Students will be able to write simple passages using grammar and vocabulary acquired which includes nearly 500 vocabulary words.
7. Students will be able to count from 1 to 100.
8. Students will be able to name the days of the week and be able to use them in simple constructions.
