CHS 706 - Social Epidemiology

Examines social influences on population health. Theoretical and methodological issues of social epidemiologic research will be explored. (Formerly PUBH 716; implementation Fall 2009)

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to critically evaluate and synthesize scientific literature.
2. Students will be able to evaluate, justify, and apply appropriate methodological and analytical approaches to address public health research questions .
3. Students will be able to effectively defend research methodology and findings through concise scientific writing and oral presentations.
4. Students will be able to construct and evaluate models for causal inference and demonstrate their practical application to epidemiologic data.
5. Students will be able to demonstrate theoretical knowledge about the influence of diversity and social determinants on health.
