On Jan. 26, 1988, the University of Nevada Board of Regents approved the following policy to be effective beginning with the 1988 fall semester:
Western Undergraduate Exchange (W.U.E.)*:
Students admitted as part of the Western Undergraduate Exchange program demonstrate the strongest academic qualifications. WUE students are not subject to out-of-state tuition charges and pay 150% of in-state registration fees. This is tuition savings of several thousand dollars each year. Students residing in one of the following states may be considered for WUE status: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming.
The following academic criteria must be met for WUE consideration: Students must have a minimum weighted 3.00 high school GPA in the following required core classes: 4 years English; 3 years math (algebra I or higher); 3 years of natural sciences; 3 years of social sciences and must have a minimum 22 ACT or 1,100 SAT score combined critical reading and math.
In order to be considered for WUE status, students must submit a completed application to the University by February 1st for fall. The program is restricted to freshmen entering in the fall term and is limited to 4 years. WUE students must live on campus in University housing for the first year. Transfer students are not eligible for WUE status.
Students cannot begin the process of attempting to establish Nevada residency for tuition purposes while participating in and receiving the benefits of the WUE tuition program.
* Students who attend the university in the WUE reduced tuition program shall not be reclassified as a resident student unless the student has been subsequently enrolled as a non-WUE non-resident student for at least 12 months immediately prior to date of application for reclassification to resident student status. |
