The Administration and Finance division provides essential planning and operational services for the university community. Those units involved in these efforts include the departments of Business and Finance; Facilities Services; Human Resources; Planning, Budget and Analysis, University Police Services and University Advancement.
BUSINESS AND FINANCE
Business and Finance is an organizational unit comprised of: Business Center North (BCN) Purchasing, the Controller’s Office, Campus Audit, and the Campus Card Program.
Business and Finance also provides payroll and purchasing services to the Nevada System of Higher Education’s BCN institutions (Chancellor’s Office and System Administration; Desert Research Institute; Great Basin College; Truckee Meadows Community College; University of Nevada, Reno; and Western Nevada College).
BCN Purchasing
The BCN Purchasing department, located north of Mackay Stadium, provides coordinated buying, contracting and other related services for the Nevada System of Higher Education’s Business Center North institutions, including the University of Nevada, Reno. Services provided by BCN Purchasing include: issuing formal bids and purchase orders, arranging contracts for goods and services, maintaining vendor relations and training on purchasing-related topics.
In addition to the purchase of construction, goods and services, BCN Purchasing handles the registration and licensing of all university vehicles. The property inventory function maintains a computerized database for all equipment and handles the disposal of excess property. The receiving function provides services for all incoming freight and packages and shipping services for outgoing freight. Purchasing also provides oversight of the University’s Copier Program and Mail Services department.
Mail Services is located at the north end of the university campus in the Central Services Building and is responsible for all incoming and outgoing U.S. Postal Service mail, intra-campus and intra-state agency mail, and all outgoing mail shipped via UPS and Federal Express.
The University Station branch of the U.S. Postal Service is located at the corner of North Virginia Street and 17th Street. All standard mail services, except general delivery, are available at this branch post office. Mail boxes are also available for rent. Students living on campus in residence halls must have a post office box to receive mail because mail addressed to residence halls cannot be delivered by the U.S. Postal Service or by Mail Services and is returned to the sender.
Campus Card Program
The Campus Card Program, located on the second floor of the Joe Crowley Student Union building, is responsible for administering the university’s Wolf Card program. The Wolf Card is the university photo identification card issued to all students, faculty and staff. The card is issued to access numerous campus services, functions as a Wolf Bucks debit card and can be linked to a Wells Fargo bank account to become an ATM and pin-based debit card. Controller’s Office
The Controller’s Office provides systems for the financial reporting and accountability of all university and university-related funds, and is responsible for collection, disbursement and custody of these funds. Services provided by the Controller’s Office include: BCN payroll services; processing payments for goods and services provided by vendors and individuals; reimbursement of employee travel expenses; processing internal financial transactions; maintaining the financial accounting system; providing financial reports and performing reconciliations; cashiering (fee assessment and collection, and other cash collections and deposits); and financial aid disbursement for students and student loan collections.
Campus Audit
Campus Audit provides audit, review and consulting services to the university community with the objective of improving university operations. The department assesses the reliability of departmental financial information, compliance with laws and regulations, compliance with university policies and procedures, safeguarding of assets and the effectiveness and efficiency of operations. Consulting functions include best practices education, fraud investigations, and other services.
FACILITIES SERVICES DEPARTMENT
The Facilities Services Department is organized under two major units: Facilities Maintenance Services, and Planning and Construction Services. These units collectively provide services for the design, construction, maintenance and repair of all campus buildings as well as providing parking and transportation services that support the needs of the campus and surrounding community. The Facilities Maintenance Services unit provides preventive maintenance and repairs to campus buildings’ electrical, mechanical/HVAC, plumbing, roofing, fire alarm and fire suppression systems, painting services, carpentry services, issues building keys, maintains perimeter security systems, maintains fire extinguishers, coordinates elevator repairs, operates and maintains the campus utilities systems, which includes the Central Heating Plant, provides landscape maintenance, snow removal, moving services, custodial services, asbestos abatement and flooring maintenance. The Planning and Construction Services unit manages the university Capital Improvement Program, provides campus master planning assistance to senior administration, manages all renovation and construction projects, provides cost estimates for department funded projects, maintains university drawing files and campus maps, implements accessibility projects, and supervises the work of outside architects and engineers. This office maintains the inventory of university instructional and non-instructional space and prepares evaluations on space information for the Facilities Resource Committee. It processes long-term space assignment requests presented to the committee, assists in the development of biennial capital project requests and produces instructional utilization studies for the institution. Additionally, they are responsible for the department’s accounting, budgeting and campus Parking and Transportation Services. Parking and Transportation Services distributes official parking permits for the university community, coordinates visitor special event parking, regulates the use of parking spaces on campus, and provides shuttle service to many locations around the campus. Parking and Transportation Services
The Parking and Transportation Services unit handles the distribution of official parking permits for the university community. The unit also regulates the use of parking spaces on campus and provides a shuttle service to many locations around the campus.
Students, faculty and staff are permitted to park their vehicles in specified areas on university property, in accordance with University Parking and Traffic Regulations. Such vehicles must be registered with Parking Services and have official parking permits.
Metered parking, visitor parking and parking for persons with disabilities are also available in designated areas. University Parking and Traffic Regulations, approved by the Board of Regents, govern all vehicles operated on campus. Vehicles parked in violation of the regulations are subject to citation and/or impounding. REAL ESTATE
The Real Estate office maintains the real estate records and an inventory of property owned by the Nevada System of Higher Education’s Board of Regents. The office also facilitates the acquisition, sale, rental and lease of property for all Business Center North institutions.

HUMAN RESOURCES
The University of Nevada, Reno Human Resource Department is responsible for the development and administration of the university’s human resources programs. This includes recruitment, employment policies, job classification, employee records, employee relations and processing personnel transactions for faculty, classified staff, post-doctoral scholars and student employees. BCN Personnel Services
The Business Center North Personnel Services department, located in the Artemesia Building, is responsible for administering the Business Center North classified personnel system and the workers’ compensation and employee benefits program for BCN faculty and staff.
PLANNING, BUDGET AND ANALYSIS
Planning, Budget and Analysis provides assistance in the development and coordination of the academic, administrative, physical and fiscal planning of the university. The office serves as staff to the University Planning Council and the Facilities Resources Committee.
Budget
The development, allocation and monitoring of the institution’s state-appropriated and self-supporting budgets are the responsibility of this unit. It prepares the university’s biennial budget request and its annual operating budget. This unit is also responsible for the campus Position Control System.
Institutional Analysis
This unit conducts studies that describe, analyze and evaluate the operations and outcomes of the university. The office produces the university enrollment reports, enrollment forecasts, online interactive date reports (with IT), in-depth studies on student success, collects and coordinates data for national surveys, and furnishes support for academic program review, accreditation activities, compensation analysis, and other administrative functions.
Scheduling Services
This office coordinates all off-campus,student, faculty and staff requests for use of centrally scheduled university facilities. It also schedules all academic for credit classes.

University Police Services is an agency of the University of Nevada, Reno serving the safety needs of our community.
Police personnel are sworn peace officers, performing the same services as those of any municipal police agency. They investigate all crimes and enforce federal, state and local laws within the campus jurisdiction. Officers are on duty 24 hours a day, every day of the year. University Police Services has the responsibility of acting upon law-enforcement matters and performing police functions for the main campus of the University of Nevada, Reno and all UNR facilities state-wide.
Contacting the Police for Emergencies and Non-emergencies: Any member of the university community who needs emergency help or medical assistance may contact police personnel, day or night, by dialing 911 or 9-911 (on-campus). For non-emergency assistance, the number to call is 334-COPS (2677).
In Reno, University Police Services is located on the first floor of the Fitzgerald Student Services Building. In Las Vegas, University Police Services is located at 1701 W. Charleston Blvd., Suite 650 adjacent to University Medical Center in the Medical District. The police business offices are open between the hours of 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday.

The University of Nevada, Reno offers an emergency messaging system to faculty, staff and students. The program sends a text and/or email message to all enrolled cell phones and email accounts in the event of an emergency at the University. DEVELOPMENT
The Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations oversees the alumni relations, fund-raising, university events, and outreach efforts of the university. The offices of Development and Alumni Relations include the Alumni Association as well as Alumni Relations, Nevada Silver and Blue magazine, University Events and the University of Nevada, Reno Foundation.
Alumni Association
The mission of the Nevada Alumni Association is to foster and cultivate a common bond of pride, affinity and connection among alumni, students, prospective students and friends of the University of Nevada, Reno through quality programs, services and events.
The Nevada Alumni Council is the governing body of the association. Comprised of 28 volunteers including the Associated Students of the University (ASUN) President, this group meets three times per year to review activities and policies of the Organization as well as identify new methods to better serve alumni. Each member is eligible to serve two consecutive three-year terms
The Alumni Association plans and manages a variety of programs and events through the year which includes Homecoming, football and basketball pre-game parties, the Senior Scholar Awards Reception, Golden Reunion, Pack Tracks Travel, Graduation Celebration, and a dues-paying membership program. There are also more than 25 chapters affiliated with the Organization that were developed as a method for alumni and friend to stay connected to Nevada.

Alumni Relations
The Office of Alumni Relations works closely with the Nevada Alumni Association. The Director of Alumni Relations serves as the direct liaison between the Association and the University. Together the staff and Alumni Council strive to better serve constituents through programs, events and services beneficial to alumni. Arboretum Board
The University of Nevada, Reno was established as a state arboretum by the 1985 Nevada Legislature “to increase the knowledge and appreciation of the public of flora indigenous to Nevada and from other areas and to provide a place where they may be planted and cultivated as memorials.” The campus is a living collection of plants, including trees, shrubs, flowers, ornamentals, and native flora. There are many designated areas on campus that are open to the public.
The Arboretum Board`s mission is to plan university landscape, conduct research and educate the public. Annually the board targets several landscapes or gardens to expand, renovate or develop. Donations, including memorial gifts, are an integral part of these new projects. New plants and varieties are planted and observations are made to test how they react to soil and climatic conditions, and determine which plants are best suited to Nevada`s unique desert environment. The Arboretum Board welcomes participation by all who have an interest in the university.
The campus arboretum is a place of beauty where students, staff, alumni and the community can enjoy and learn about native and ornamental plants.
Nevada Silver and Blue Magazine
Nevada Silver & Blue magazine, reaches thousands of alumni, benefactors and other friends of the university, providing them with informative articles and illustrations, news of University achievements, and updates on the noteworthy accomplishments of university alumni. Southern Nevada Office
The Southern Nevada Office for Prospective Students participates in hundreds of events throughout the year in the southern Nevada and southern California regions. The office serves as the primary recruiting agency for both regions. In addition to high school visits, the office participates in various college fair activities including its annual Fall Preview event in which Clark County students and parents learn more about the University. The office also conducts programs for elementary and middle school outreach, financial aid and college preparedness. University Events
The University Events Department designs and produces a variety of special events on campus, in the community, and elsewhere to support the University’s fundraising and public relations goals.

University of Nevada, Reno Foundation
Established in May 1981, the Foundation is the central fund-raising organization for all programs at the university. The Foundation is governed by a volunteer board of trustees comprised of alumni, community leaders, business leaders and other friends of the university. The Foundation is responsible for the coordination, cultivation, solicitation and processing of all private funds and gifts donated for the benefit of the university. In addition to its own accounting and computer services staff, the Foundation offers consultation and assistance to all colleges, schools and departments with fund-raising goals, plans and work. The office also oversees several major programs, including the annual fund campaign, major and planned giving, and scholarships.
Through the efforts of its staff and volunteers, and through community assistance, the Foundation is able to secure financial support for a number of important services and activities, including: endowed programs, scholarships, equipment, facilities, libraries, the Alumni Association, the Graduation Celebration, Foundation professorships, and the Clarence and Martha Jones Foundation Scholarship Program .
