Upward Bound

The Upward Bound Programs at the University of Nevada, Reno are comprised of three federally-funded projects serving 186 students from first-generation, income-qualified backgrounds at six target high schools in Washoe and Lyon counties. Upward Bound provides academic advising, tutoring, SAT/ACT preparation, mentoring, cultural enrichment, internship programs, financial literacy instruction, major and career exploration services, college tours and a residential Summer Academy. The goal of the Upward Bound Programs is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education, enroll in institutions of postsecondary education, and graduate with college degrees.
