Disability Resource Center


The Disability Resource Center (DRC) offers a wide range of support services and accommodations for students with specific, documented disabilities. Appropriate services are determined and provided based upon the student`s specific disability and the academic requirements of the appropriate department, college, school, etc.

Accommodations and Services for Students with Disabilities – The DRC provides accommodations and services tailored to the individual need(s) of each student. When appropriate, reasonable accommodations can include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Alternative Media
  • Note-taking services
  • Alternative testing
  • Classroom aids
  • Interpreter services
  • Classroom access
  • Adaptive computer equipment
  • CART
  • TypeWell
  • Liaison with faculty
  • Math 019/119 (two-semester course equivalent to Math 120)
  • Referrals to campus and community services.
  • Reduced course load while maintaining full-time student status.

Housing

The university provides accessible housing accommodations for students with disabilities. Since assignment is made on a space-available basis, early application is essential. Contact the Department of Residential Life, Housing and Food Services for additional information. (775) 784-1113.

Parking

To obtain a university disability tag, students must first get a disability placard through the Nevada State Department of Motor Vehicles. A copy of the placard may then be taken to the university Parking Services office. A disabled parking permit will be issued through university Parking Services.

The DRC believes that you will find the students, staff, and faculty at the University of Nevada, Reno to be sensitive to your needs and eager to make every reasonable accommodations to assist you in attaining your academic goals.
