Upward Bound Programs

The Upward Bound Programs at the University of Nevada, Reno are comprised of three federally-funded Upward Bound grants and one Upward Bound Math Science grant cumulatively serving 246 students from first-generation, income-qualified backgrounds at eight target high schools in Washoe and Lyon counties. The Upward Bound Programs provide academic advising, tutoring, SAT/ACT preparation, STEM instruction, mentoring, cultural enrichment, internship programs, financial literacy instruction, major and career exploration services, college tours and a residential Summer Academy. The goal of the Upward Bound Programs is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education, enroll in institutions of post-secondary education, and graduate with college degrees.
