Students residing in one of the following states may be considered for WUE status: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming, as well as Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.

For new freshmen:

  • must have a minimum 26 ACT composite score or 1,240 SAT score combined critical reading and math only.

Test scores must be from the same administration/sitting. In order to be considered for WUE status, students must submit a completed application to the University by February 1st for fall. WUE eligible freshmen are those recent high school graduates who have completed no college-level work after the summer immediately following their high school graduation and admission to the University. WUE freshmen must live on campus in University housing for the first year. Other conditions may apply.

For new transfer students:
New transfer students may be eligible for WUE. Students must complete 24 transferable semester graded credits from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution within a WUE state and have a 3.25 cumulative transfer GPA (from all institutions). To be considered for WUE status, students must submit a completed application to the University by July 1st for fall and December 15th for spring.

Students must meet the WUE or Nevada Advantage policy requirements and deadlines established for the semester in which they apply and must do so by the deadline, prior to attending the University. Students are not eligible for reconsideration after they matriculate to the University.

Students cannot begin the process of establishing Nevada residency for tuition purposes while participating in and receiving the benefits of WUE or Nevada Advantage non-resident reduced tuition programs.
