The Veterans Services office serves as a liaison for students with the Department of Veterans Affairs Office for Education Benefits.
The University of Nevada, Reno is fully approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for education benefits to qualified veterans, service members and dependents under existing, applicable public laws.
Each student wishing to receive benefits under any of the public laws must initially complete the Veterans Education Benefits Application online through the Department of Veteran Affairs. Students may face a six- to eight-week delay in receiving their education benefits while the Veteran’s Administration processes their application. Policies of Satisfactory Academic Progress apply to students using Veteran’s Education benefits. Failure to follow the Academic Standard for Satisfactory Progress may result in the discontinuation of VA Education Benefits at the institution until satisfactory progress is made.
The Veterans Services office also offers a variety of services and programs for students’ success. Specific regulations for veteran services may be obtained by contacting the Veterans Benefits Coordinator and Certifying Official. Veterans’ Services is located in the Admissions & Records Office on the second floor of the Fitzgerald Student Services Building. Additionally, students are encouraged to visit the Veterans and Military Center in the PSAC Building. The Center is a place for students with a shared experience to meet; it offers programming and is also available as a study space and lounge.
