Gerontology, the study of aging and older adults, is a dynamic, interdisciplinary field that prepares students for a variety of careers in one of the largest growing areas in the 21st century workplace. Health care, social services, public health, nutrition, business, journalism, law, engineering, architecture, government affairs, as well as recreation and leisure services are just a few careers in which knowledge in gerontology is frequently desired. Our Gerontology Academic Program (GAP) provides up-to-date knowledge on the biological, physiological, communicative, psychological, social, and health aspects of aging. Through faculty advising that encourages critical thinking, service learning, research and innovation, student scholars are prepared to apply theoretical knowledge to practical, age-related issues and opportunities to support a growing population of older adults.
