University Scholarships

Scholarships are merit awards based on academic performance or talent (such as in music, art, or athletics). There are also scholarships for students who are interested in particular fields of study, who have extracurricular achievements, or who demonstrate financial need.

First-year scholarships

All new freshmen who would like to be considered for scholarships must complete the University’s Freshman Application for Scholarships and file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Institutional Methodology for FAFSA-Ineligible Students form by the February 15 priority deadline. Students do not have to demonstrate financial need to receive a scholarship, but the FAFSA or Institutional Methodology allows you to be considered for supplemental funding.

Eligibility to receive scholarships is determined after a holistic review of the application for admission, the scholarship application, and FAFSA or Institutional Methodology. Applications are evaluated on a competitive basis. Award decisions are based upon a combination of grade point average and other academic and non-academic factors.

College and department scholarships

To be considered for college and department scholarships, new and continuing undergraduate and graduate students must complete the annual scholarship application in MyNevada.

In addition to the scholarship application in MyNevada, some academic departments may require a supplemental application to qualify for their scholarships.

Check the Student Financial Aid website for additional information.
