Transfer Admission Requirements

Admission with advanced undergraduate standing is granted to a student transferring from another regionally accredited college or university, provided the transfer applicant meets four conditions.

The applicant must:

  • be in good standing at the educational institution last attended; and
  • must have earned at least 24 college-level transferable semester credits; and
  • have compiled an overall GPA of at least 2.5 on all transferable college-level credits;

The Office of Admissions and Records will make a final admission decision only after applicants have provided official transcripts from each college or university attended.

An applicant transferring to the university with fewer than 24 acceptable college-level credits will be required to satisfy the freshmen admission requirements.

Students who graduate from a Nevada System of Higher Education community college with a transferable associate degree will be admitted to the University of Nevada, Reno.

TRANSFER AGREEMENTS

Every bachelor’s degree program description in this catalog includes a link to the transfer agreements that have been developed for that program. If no agreement exists for the transfer institution you have attended or are now attending, please use the Transferology site to see how your coursework will transfer to the University.

ADMISSION TO INSTITUTIONS WITHIN THE NEVADA SYSTEM OF HIGHER EDUCATION

Individuals who wish to transfer to another institution within the state’s system of higher education are required to submit an application for admission, payment of fees and supporting credentials directly to the appropriate admissions office, in accordance with established policy.

Admission of the transferring applicant and the acceptance of that student’s transfer credit are governed by the advanced standing regulations of the institution that receives the application for admission.
