Students enrolled at UNR for six or more credits pay a mandatory health fee at the time of registration. Students at UNR taking fewer than six credits may voluntarily pay the health fee. This eligibility does not apply to correspondence and community service courses.
General outpatient medical care is provided for acute and chronic illnesses and injuries. Some of the services offered at the center include: sports medicine, women’s health, STD testing, immunizations, minor surgical procedures, laboratory and x-ray. Clinic hours during the academic school year are from 8-7 Monday through Thursday and from 8-5 on Fridays. Students are seen on a walk-in basis. Walk-in hours are from 8-6 Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Walk-in hours are from 9-6 on Wednesdays and from 8-4 on Fridays. Summer clinic hours are 8-5 with walk-in hours from 8-4 (9-4 on Wednesdays).
The university offers accident and health insurance for students, available by semester or annual basis. The insurance covers you 24 hours a day, whether you are at school or away from campus. In order to purchase the student insurance policy, undergraduates must be enrolled in at least 9 credits hours and graduate students must be enrolled in at least 6 credits, and pay the per semester health fee. Eligible students may also purchase insurance for their spouse and/or dependents, however spouses and children cannot receive care at the Student Health Center.
