Upward Bound

Upward Bound is a federally funded college preparatory program hosted by the University of Nevada, Reno since 1966. Currently three federal grants provide academic services to 187 eligible high school students in nine target schools in Washoe, Lyon, and Douglas Counties. The program is designed to promote graduation from high school and successful entrance and graduation from college. High school students who are first-generation college bound and meet the federal guidelines for limited family income are eligible for the program, which offers individualized academic guidance, tutoring, test preparation, career exploration, study skills, financial literacy, college tours, and cultural enrichment experiences.
