GEOG 488 - Creating North American Landscapes (3 units)
An examination of how distinctive American landscapes, places, and spaces are created and then transformed by human action through time. (General Capstone course.)
Prerequisite(s): CH 201 or CH 202 or CH 203 ; ENG 102 ; junior or senior standing.

Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to integrate skills of written, oral, and visual communication to pose and answer an informed question about the origins and significance of the North American landscape.
2. Students will be able to describe the ways that landscape is both a physical and a cultural creation.
3. Students will be able to explain the regional variations in the North American landscape.
4. Students will be able to discern national and international influences in the local landscape.
5. Students will be able to analyze and synthesize the impact of national political, social, and economic systems on the local landscape.
