MINE 418 - Mine Feasibility (3 units) Data, techniques and layout required for a formal mine feasibility report to be prepared on a given mineral deposit. (Major capstone course.)
Prerequisite(s): MINE 411 ; MINE 413 ; MINE 415 ; CH 201 or CH 202 or CH 203 ; ENG 102 ; junior or senior standing. Corequisite: MINE 456 .
Units of Lecture: 1 Units of Laboratory/Studio: 2 Major Capstone Course Offered Every Spring Student Learning Outcomes (if available): Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to determine the preliminary feasibility of a hypothetical mine based on drillhole data, a mineral resource estimate, and other known geologic and geographic limitations. 2. Students will be able to write a formal report and executive summary of a mine feasibility study in a format appropriate to the mining engineering community. 3. Students will be able to give a formal oral presentation on a mine feasibility study to a professional audience.
