MINE 305 - Differential Models

(1 to 3 units)
Formulation of differential models, balances of masses, force, momentum and energy. Parameter reduction, scaling, transformations. Initial and boundary conditions. Analog, analytical and numerical solution techniques.

Prerequisite(s): MATH 283 or MATH 182.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to apply knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering to formulate descriptive differential models. They will be able to solve the developed models using computational techniques.
2. Students will be able to identify, formulate and solve engineering problems which are derived from scientific principles and used to solve applied engineering problems.
3. Students will be able to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools, necessary for engineering practice.
