MSE 601 - Corrosion of Metals (3 units) Thermodynamics and kinetic basis for the electrochemical theory of corrosion. Potential-pH diagrams. Polarization curves. Forms of corrosion to include: general and galvanic corrosion, pitting and stress corrosion cracking. Methods of corrosion prevention.
Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Spring - Odd Years Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will have an ability to apply engineering research and theory to advance the art, science, and practice of the discipline. 2. Students will have an ability to design and conduct experiments as well as to analyze, interpret, apply, and disseminate the data. 3. Students will have an understanding of research methodology.
