Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to critically assess musical examples through actively engaged listening/viewing.
2. Students will be able to articulate the ways in which American Musical Theater has helped shape (and in turn is shaped by) individual and communal senses of self and others.
3. Students will be able to discuss the function of music and musical theater in culture.
4. Students will be able to write about specific Broadway shows, composers, and songs descriptively and historically.
