MUS 386 - Percussion Class Methods (2 units) Elementary instruction in the various percussion instruments. (Formerly MUS 124; implemented Fall 2005.)
Prerequisite(s): MUS 300.
Units of Lecture: 2 Offered: Every Fall - Even Years Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to demonstrate, through written tests/quizzes, performance tests, and class participation, accurate knowledge of theoretical material as related to Snare Drum, Timpani, Mallet Keyboard Instruments, Auxiliary Percussion (tambourine, triangle, castanets, etc.), World Percussion, Drum Set, and Marching Percussion. 2. Students will be able to demonstrate, through written tests/quizzes, performance tests, and class participation, proper playing techniques on Snare Drum, Timpani, Mallet Keyboard Instruments, Auxiliary Percussion (tambourine, triangle, castanets, etc.), World Percussion, Drum Set, and Marching Percussion. 3. Students will be able to demonstrate, through written tests/quizzes, performance tests, and class participation, teaching pedagogy for the following percussion instruments: Snare Drum, Timpani, Mallet Keyboard Instruments, Auxiliary Percussion (tambourine, triangle, castanets, etc.), World Percussion, Drum Set, and Marching Percussion.
