MUS 409 - Composition (1 to 2 units) Original writing in traditional forms for a variety of media with preparation for public performance. Maximum of 8 undergraduate credits; 4 graduate credits.
Prerequisite(s): MUS 302.
Offered: Every Fall and Spring Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to demonstrate increased proficiency in solving issues of practical and clear music notation. 2. Students will be able to show a greater proficiency and sophistication in creating original musical compositions. 3. Students will be able to demonstrate a greater proficiency in using and understanding the sonic capabilities of their compositional media (acoustic or electronic). 4. Students will be able to identify emerging trends in contemporary marching ensembles and trace them back to their historical roots.
