NURS 100 - Exploration of Nursing as a Profession (2 units) This course explores nursing as a potential career.
Units of Lecture: 2 Offered: Every Fall and Spring Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to discuss the historical evolution of the nursing profession. 2. Students will be able to discuss the characteristics of professional nursing. 3. Students will be able to explore nursing as a profession within the contemporary healthcare system. 4. Students will be able to identify personal strengths and opportunities for growth that would affect his/her ability to work in the nursing profession. 5. Students will be able to identify the scope of nursing practice, the education and training required and the professional standards for nursing. 6. Students will be able to describe the benefit of belonging to a professional organization.
