NURS 719 - Health & Public Policy for Advanced Practice Nursing

Prepares nursing leaders to analyze and influence health policy. Defines problems, critiques potential solutions, assesses political influences, designs interventions for policy-making, and evaluate outcomes.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to understand the concept of health policy development as it applies to nursing research/evidence and demonstrate this understanding in course assignments.
2. Students will be able to articulate appropriate health evidence necessary to support health policy development/amendments and describes the necessary steps needed to fill the gaps in existing evidence as appropriate.
3. Students will be able to identify appropriate policy makers and the process of collaboration with these policy makers to assure health evidence shapes health policy.
