NURS 750 - Advanced Health Assessment

(3 units)
Utilizes knowledge derived from the arts, humanities and sciences to assess the health of individuals across the life span.

Prerequisite(s): Admission to the MSN program.

Units of Lecture: 2
Units of Internship/Practicum: 1
Offered: Every Fall
Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to develop a systematic approach to collect a patient history and conduct a complete physical examination.
2. Students will be able to identify normal findings and begin to identify abnormalities of common illnesses.
3. Students will be able to formulate a diagnosis, considering possible differential diagnoses based on data collected at a beginning level.
4. Students will be able to develop a health promotion plan based on collected data.
5. Students will be able to articulate how the professional competencies (i.e. NOPF domains, CNL Competencies, etc.) affect advanced practice nurses.
6. Students will be able to recognize the uniqueness of individuals in each provider-client interaction and integrate this knowledge in to practice accordingly.
