PSY 446 - Human Neuropsychology (3 units) The study of human cognition and brain organization in brain-damaged patient groups that exhibit visual agnosias, aphasia, spatial neglect, and executive dysfunction.
Prerequisite(s): PSY 101 or BIOL 105 or PSY 105.
Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall - Odd Years Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to identify individual parts of the human brain and understand the functions in which those locations play a role. 2. Students will be able to identify specific regions of the cortex and describe what types of behavioral symptoms might occur following damage to those regions. 3. Students will be able to describe several types of neuropsychological syndromes, their etiology and the symptoms that are associated with each syndrome. 4. Students will be able to describe methods of patient assessment, both behavioral and neuropathological.
