SW 311 - HBSE II: Micro and Mezzo Systems

(3 units)
Second course in a two course sequence that promotes a multidimensional understanding of human functioning across systems and the life course.

Prerequisite(s): SW 310.

Units of Lecture: 3

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to incorporate information regarding substance abuse in assessments of human behavior.
2. Students will be able to incorporate information regarding neurobiology in assessments of human behavior.
3. Students will be able to conduct a familial assessment supported by empirical evidence and theory.
4. Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of the gender, culture, class, age and other differences in technology usage, and the implications of these differences in assessments of human behavior.
5. Students will be able to apply the concept of intersectionality to explain human behavior in the local and global context.
6. Students will be able to use the person in environment approach to examine and explain complex human behavior and functioning.
7. Students will be able to analyze the fit between theories and social work values.
8. Students will be able to apply an evidence-informed approach to understanding human behavior.
