NURS 782 - The Role of Nurse Educator

Synthesis of teaching and learning theories, curriculum development, and evaluation strategies utilized in nursing education.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to use a broad understanding of relevant social issues, integrate the philosophy and mission of a school of nursing or an agency into the development and evaluation of instructional programs.
2. Students will be able to participate knowledgeably in the development, implementation, revision, and evaluation of nursing and health education programs to ensure quality education services in health care.
3. Students will be able to analyze teaching methods for usefulness in nursing education.
4. Students will be able to participate in the development of nursing education as a science, through the synthesis of learning and nursing theories, research, and scientific processes into education services.
5. Students will be able to recognize the need for continuing education through the development of a personal philosophy on the role of nurse educator.
