ME 692 - Quality Assurance for Transport Packaging and Storage Casks (1 unit) Development of QA requirements for design, procurement, fabrication, examination, and testing of radioactive material packaging and storage casks to satisfy regulatory requirements. This course offered only at Argonne National Laboratory. Students are responsible for all national laboratory fees and expenses associated with the course location.
Prerequisite(s): Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, and basic knowledge of DOE/NRC regulatory requirements for transportation packaging and storage casks is required. Knowledge in application of quality assurance in the nuclear field is extremely useful.
Units of Lecture: 1 Offered: Every Spring Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will have an ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering. 2. Students will have an ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data. 3. Students will have an ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability.
