NURS 764 - Practice Development Strategies for the APRN

Analysis, application of advanced nursing practice principles: business/financial operations, regulatory/legal management, marketing, information management, role development.

Prerequisite(s): Acceptance to the DNP Program.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to analyze the process of advanced practice role development as it relates to the DNP.
2. Students will be able to formulate a business plan, applying principles of healthcare economics.
3. Students will be able to develop a budget that addresses sustainability and financial forecasting.
4. Students will be able to articulate billing, coding, and other requirements for third-party reimbursement.
5. Students will be able to analyze laws and regulatory policies that affect advance nursing practice.
6. Students will be able to develop marketing strategies that promote independent/autonomous practice for the APRN.
7. Students will be able to identify strategies to address healthcare needs of the under-insured and non-insured population aggregates served by the APRN.
8. Students will be able to articulate approaches to information management through use of the electronic medical record systems.
