MICR 290 - Independent Study (1-3 units) Research and/or readings in selected topics in microbiology and immunology. Maximum of 9 credits.
Prerequisite(s): Instructor consent required; freshmen or sophomore standing only.
Units of Independent Study: 1-3 Offered: Every Fall and Spring Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to work independently in laboratory settings. 2. Students will be able to demonstrate fundamental skills required for working in a research lab. 3. Students will be able to demonstrate basic microbiological techniques, such as sterile technique, growing pure cell cultures, isolating cellular components, etc. 4. Students will be able to demonstrate important safety skills for working in laboratory settings. 5. Students will be able to research scientific literature. 6. Students will be able to apply scientific publications to practical lab activities.
