PAS 613 - Technical Skills III (1 unit) Technical Skills is a series of three courses designed to teach specific diagnostic skills and procedures used in a primary care setting.
Units of Lecture: 1 Offered: Every Summer Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to describe the principles of local anesthesia administration and wound classification. 2. Students will be able to demonstrate a variety of suture and knot tying techniques commonly used in wound closure. 3. Students will be able to generate a differential diagnosis, perform a focused patient history and physical exam, order appropriate tests and develop an appropriate treatment plan when presented with a pregnancy scenario. 4. Students will be able to identify heart sounds associated with innocent and physiologic murmurs, aortic stenosis, aortic regurgitation, mitral stenosis, and mitral regurgitation. 5. Students will be able to utilize electronic medical record systems.
