PAS 700 - Family Medicine Clerkship (20 units) The Family Medicine clerkship offers second-year PA students a 16-week ambulatory primary care clinical experience and introduction to the role of the primary care medical provider.
Units of Internship/Practicum: 20 Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to demonstrate appropriate professional interaction with patients and other healthcare professionals. 2. Students will be able to gather information, formulate differential diagnoses, and propose plans for the initial evaluation and management of patients with common primary care presentations. 3. Students will be able to develop evidence-based health promotion/disease prevention plans for patients of any age or gender. 4. Students will be able to apply knowledge and skills learned throughout the didactic year to demonstrate competency in advanced elicitation of history, communication, physical examination, and critical thinking skills.
