ANTH 101 - Introduction to Cultural Anthropology (3 units) CO6 Introduction to human culture and society. Understanding human diversity through comparative study of politics, religion, economics, and kinship.
Units of Lecture: 2 Units of Discussion/Recitation: 1 Core Status: CO6 Offered: Every Fall, Spring, and Summer Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to explain and evaluate basic theories, methodologies, and key concepts in the field of cultural anthropology. 2. Students will be able to explain the concept of culture and cultural diversity from an anthropological perspective and with regards to cross-cultural comparison. 3. Students will be able to critically apply concepts central to cultural anthropology in analyzing cultural phenomena, such as ethnocentrism, cultural relativism, and the cultural construction of race.
