BASQ 461 - Basque Gender Studies (3 units) Analysis of gender in the Basque context, past and present, in its domestic, economic and political dimensions, and in the construction of socio-cultural identities.
Units of Lecture: 3 Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to analyze the relevance of gender in the construction of socio-cultural identities, with a particular focus on the Basque Country. 2. Students will be able to critically analyze assumptions about the relationships between gender and identity, ethnicity, language and beliefs in a cross-cultural context. 3. Students will be able to develop their writing style and ability to formulate an argument, explain and defend it. 4. Students will be able to integrate and summarize results from course readings and lectures in the class discussions, presentation, term paper and mid-term and final exams. 5. Students will be able to use basic research strategies and critically assess primary and secondary resources for their assignments.
