BCH 403 - Biochemistry Lab (2 units) Selected experiments illustrating methodology used in investigating the chemistry of living systems.
Prerequisite(s): BCH 303. Corequisite(s): BCH 400.
Units of Lecture: 1 Units of Laboratory/Studio: 1 Offered: Every Fall Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to apply theoretical concepts presented in the Introductory Biochemistry (BCH 400) lecture course to practice in a laboratory setting. 2. Students will be able to separate, characterize and quantify proteins using chromatographic and spectrometric approaches. 3. Students will be able to experimentally determine the chemical and physical conditions required for optimal enzymatic activity. 4. Students will be able to apply the appropriate statistical and mathematical approaches to analyze data and appraise experimental results. 5. Students will be able to prepare written reports that comply with standard scientific formats.
