BIOL 433 - Ornithology (3 units) Origins, evolution, taxonomy, biogeography, morphology, physiology, behavior and ecology of birds.
Prerequisite(s): BIOL 191; BIOL 192 or NRES 211.
Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Spring Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of avian morphology, physiology, evolution and ecology in a series of in-class objective exams. 2. Students will be able to develop critical thinking skills by understanding the relationships between bird structure, function and evolutionary history. 3. Students will be able to develop their scientific writing skills in a series of take-home essays while demonstrating their understanding of specific topics in avian biology.
