CRJ 417 - Police in the Cinema (3 units) Examination of the portrayal of the police in several classic films. Topics include police isolation, social demands, corruption and salvation, and legal ramifications.
Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Summer Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to articulate the common themes found across police movies such as salvation, personal dilemmas, and temptation. 2. Students will be able to compare different cinematic styles portrayed in police movies. 3. Students will be able to differentiate between the cinematic portrayal of police officers as crime-fighters, heroes, or deviants.
