EDRL 701 - Field Work and Clinical Practice in Reading (3 units) Practice in reading with emphasis upon clinical diagnosis, prognosis and remediation. Maximum of 6 credits.
Units of Lecture: 1 Units of Internship/Practicum: 2 Offered: Every Fall - Even Years Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to use appropriate assessments to explain the learning needs of and craft specific learning goals for K–12 students. 2. Students will be able to design and implement individualized strategy lessons (including finding and/or developing appropriate reading materials) that build upon readers’ strengths and assist in overcoming challenges. 3. Students will be able to apply foundational reading theories in a variety of instructional contexts. 4. Students will be able to plan for and provide a literate environment, including multimodal activities, instructional strategies, materials, media, etc., which encourages literacy-learning for students, regardless of ethnic background, gender, or disabilities. 5. Students will be able to synthesize assessment and instructional information in reports to communicate with a variety of audiences (e.g., parents, teachers, students, administrators, etc.).
