EDRL 777 - Advanced Seminar in Literacy (3 units) Focus on literacy research highlighting topics such as comprehensive, vocabulary, fluency, and current issues. Maximum of 15 credits.
Units of Lecture: 3 Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to document and discuss the importance of literacy historically and theoretically. 2. Students will be able to critically apply concepts central to literacy theory to literacy research and practice. 3. Students will be able to compare and contrast the various theories related to literacy acquisition and instruction in order to develop a comprehensive evaluation and synthesis of literacy research on specific topics. 4. Students will be able to use seminal research, students will be able to explain, orally and in writing, the historical, theoretical, and empirical relationships between psychology and literacy.
