EDSP 719 - Assessment of Students with Severe Disabilities

(3 units)
Assessment of intellectual, adaptive, and behavioral functioning of students with severe behavior disorders, learning disabilities, or intellectual disabilities. Includes practicum.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to implement a comprehensive, individualized assessment of a student with an intensive educational need.
2. Students will be able to demonstrate competence in involving family members and/or other educational team members in completing a comprehensive assessment.
3. Students will be able to summarize assessment results and use those results to set priorities for instructional planning.
4. Students will be able to use assessment results to design an appropriate IEP for the student or critically review an already developed IEP for the student and make appropriate changes.
