EL 798 - Internship (1 to 9 units S/U Only) Practical experience in the students major field under close supervision and direction of local school system personnel and university staff members. Experience areas selected by student, advisor and department chairman. (May be repeated up to 9 credits.)
Offered: Every Fall and Spring Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to demonstrate success by completing 135 hours of internship. 2. Students will be able to apply higher education theory and concepts to their internship duties. 3. Students will be able to develop career skills such as self-discipline, teamwork, responsibility and initiative in a real world setting. 4. Students will be able to demonstrate ability to work well with others. 5. Students will be able to assess their own strengths and weaknesses as a potential employee. 6. Students will be able to compare and contrast the performances of professionals in action. 7. Students will be able to evaluate their own performance over the course of the internship and use this self-reflection to make improvements in their future performance. 8. Students will be able to assess their career goals and objectives. 9. Students will be able to build a network of professional contacts for future career development. 10. Students will be able to utilize and use reflection through journaling. 11. Students will be able to present a synopsis of their experience.
