ENG 271 - Introduction to Shakespeare

Shakespeares principal plays read for their social interest and their literary excellence. Not intended for students selecting a specialization in English.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to analyze the major plays and poems of Shakespeare in their cultural and historical contexts.
2. Students will be able to enhance critical thinking, oral communication, and writing skills through literary analysis.
3. Students will be able to articulate the importance of performance to the interpretation of drama.
4. Students will be able to explain the generic features and major themes of key texts from Shakespeare’s canon.
