Significant themes and ideas in literature. Designed for non-English majors. Maximum of 6 credits.

Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to articulate the relationships among authors, texts, and readers.
2. Students will be able to employ literary terminology appropriate to the study of the genre(s) covered in class.
3. Students will be able to engage in close reading and critical interpretation of a wide range of texts relevant to the theme(s) covered in class.
4. Students will be able to discuss the features and development of, as well as the historical, cultural, and social contexts for, the theme(s) relevant to the course.
