ENG 432A - Chaucer (3 units) CO12 Selections from the works of Chaucer read in Middle English with emphasis on the Canterbury Tales.
Prerequisite(s): Junior standing. Corequisite(s): ENG 303 .
Units of Lecture: 3 Core Status: CO12 Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course: 1. Students will be able to apply their knowledge of Middle English grammar to read poetry and prose. 2. Students will be able to analyze the tales according to their generic horizons as well as their contexts in The Canterbury Tales. 3. Students will be able to analyze the ethical situations within tales, between the tellers and their tales, and among the pilgrims. 4. Students will be able to distinguish between late Medieval and modern ethics.
