Deformation and structures of the Earth’s crust and lithosphere, integrating geologic and geophysical observations and techniques from microscopic to mountain range scales.

Prerequisite(s): GEOL 212 or BS-GE or BS-MINE or BS-GPH and MATH 182.

Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to recall the concepts and properties of stress and strain, and how these act to deform rocks.
2. Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of the formation and characterization of brittle deformation structures.
3. Students will be able to demonstrate understanding of the formation and characterization of ductile deformation structures.
