Student Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course:
1. Students will be able to analyze and interpret primary sources from nineteenth-century America through discussions, written assignments, and oral presentations.
2. Students will be able to explain the expansion and division of the United States and the cultural valences for diverse Americans in different parts of the nation.
3. Students will be able to synthesize, analyze, and convey complex historical information by means of a final project.
